About Shake&Pop
What happens when three best friends in Portland, Oregon, discover they each have an abundance of ideas for Shakespeare adaptations?
Shake&Pop happens!
Shake&Pop’s leadership - Veronica Everett, Megan Haynes, and Isabella Buckner - came together two years ago to begin plotting our course into the world of theatre production.
Each of us came to the table with our own unique breadth of experience and asked the question, “What happens when three neurodivergent women with disabilities decide to start a theatre company?” Well, we adapted a company structure that fits our strengths.
We refer to ourselves as a “3-headed Artistic Director” that works as one entity. When one of us needs to take a break for any reason, there are two others who can take the reins. This prevents burnout while also assuring that Shake&Pop can still fully function.
We are passionate about many things, but most of all, we are passionate about mental and physical health and safety, caring for each other and our community, and theater's beauty, struggle, and collaboration.

Mission Statement
Shake&Pop’s mission is to tell modern stories using Shakespeare’s classical language. The humanity of Shakespeare, poetry, and prose has captured audiences' imaginations for hundreds of years because they resonate deeply with each of us.
We have all been Hamlet, plagued by questions.
We have all been young, in love, and ready to die for it, like Romeo and Juliet.
All of us. No matter our gender, skin tone, sexuality, or body type. No matter our econimic status.
Adapting the stories to reflect the world around us while keeping the power of Shakespeare’s language to plot our course, we strive to celebrate the different and challenge industry norms regarding disability advocacy, body diversity, mental health, and economic affluence.
